ArgoGlobal Among Companies That Give Back to Local Children

The Italian Job: ArgoGlobal’s Drive for Good

ArgoGlobal gears up for The Italian Job motoring event, supporting children and young people in crisis with charity partner Buttle UK.

Row of classic Mini Cooper cars

ArgoGlobal is sponsoring The Italian Job, an annual motoring event which has raised over £2.7 million for children’s charities since its inception in 1990. This year, the event will raise money for Buttle UK, a children’s charity that ArgoGlobal recently selected as their partner charity.

Tom Marsden, chairman of ArgoGlobal’s charity committee explains:

“Supporting charity is an important aspect of ArgoGlobal’s ethos. For many city employees, shared values are an important aspect of daily working life – they want to work for companies that give back.

With its East End origins very close to our London offices, Buttle UK was the popular choice amongst employees when we voted for a new partner charity in December 2018.”

Recreating movie magic to support children in crisis

Inspired by the 1969 film starring Michael Caine, the 2019 Italian Job will see 75 teams driving Minis and other classic cars through Italy. Leaving the UK on 17 October, the cars will head across Europe to Imola, in the historic Romagna region, and then continue their journey through some of Italy’s most beautiful countryside and cities – Rome, Caserta, Lucca, Monza and Turin.

The tour will pause for official events, including a special delivery of toys to a representative from a local children’s hospital. From Turin, the tour will then form an escorted convoy for the 800-mile drive back to London, finishing with a gala dinner at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.

As well as sponsoring the event, ArgoGlobal is entering its own company-branded Mini Cooper, with five teams driving it in turns. Drivers won the chance to take part via a company raffle, and the teams comprise ArgoGlobal employees and broker clients.

After the event, the Mini will be returned to Buttle UK, who will re-sell it. All the ArgoGlobal team drivers have also pledged to raise funds and are seeking donations via a group fundraising page.
