Trident Brings Thought Leadership on Smart Cities to RIMS 2019

Trident to Examine Smart City Technology Planning and Deployment at RIMS

Thom Rickert’s presentation, “Connected Communities: Smart Cities and Infrastructure Revolution,” explores the risk implications of new technology in the public sector.

Today’s municipal risk managers face two urgent questions: “What are ‘smart cities’?” and “How can I help prepare my community for change?”

Thom Rickert, vice president and emerging risk specialist, Trident Public Risk Solutions, an Argo Group company, will help answer these and other questions in his presentation, “Connected Communities: Smart Cities and the Infrastructure Revolution,” at RIMS 2019 on April 30.

Municipal risk managers face advances in smart city technology that offer tremendous potential for improving traffic safety, saving lives and enhancing quality of life in their communities. Rickert will explore the key issues and help attendees understand what smart city technology is and how it connects cyber-physical, social and business infrastructures to create a more resilient and sustainable community.

He’ll share practical applications of smart technology in public environments and examine the risks associated with smart city technology planning and deployment. Also, he will touch on related issues, including:

  • Building trust with citizens
  • Managing and protecting data
  • Designing effective laws and regulations

RIMS 2019 will be held April 28 – May 1 at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Rickert will speak from 12:30 – 12:50 p.m. on April 30 in the Thought-Leader Theater.
